PALERMO
Day 1 – Palermo is the cultural, economic and tourist capital of the island. Noisy, hectic and at times even chaotic city has a rich history of three millennia. Countless tourists come here every year to enjoy the mild Mediterranean climate, the famous cuisine, and of course the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque churches, grand palaces and other historical monuments.
To Filicudi 66 NM.
FILICUDI
Day 2 – The mountains and valleys give the island a broken look. The coastline is not clean, but gradual, creating different colors in the sea from green to blue and violet. The 70-meter-high La Canna stone rising from the sea also creates a mystical atmosphere.
Filicudi is not only a place for bathing and summer holidays, it offers the interior to the visitors of the peaks, especially between April and June and from September to November, when the crowds have left. It is a wonderful feeling to walk along the paths in silence, only with the wind.
To Stromboli 33 NM.
STROMBOLI
Day 3 – Stromboli is nicknamed the “Mediterranean Lighthouse” due to its constant rising glow, one of the seven volcanic islands that make up the Aeolian archipelago off the north coast of Sicily. Barely a quarter the size of Manhattan and only 3,031 feet above sea level, it rules as one of the most active volcanoes in the world, having released an almost clear lava fountain for almost 2,500 years.
Every summer, a boatload of visitors travels here to the gleaming black sand beaches, and every sunset, the fairway travels to the fireworks against the night sky.
To Panarea 16NM.
PANAREA
Day 4 -While it is the smallest of the Aeolian Islands, Panarea is the most famous for two specific reasons: the first of these is that Mother Nature was bountifully generous with this island. The other reason is that it is among the most popular destinations for celebrities and billionaires alike.Giorgio Armani, Will Smith, Jeff Bezos, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Bradley Cooper, Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga are all people that have been to the island and make up its extensive roster of possible encounters. This certainly sounds exciting, but this being a celebrity destination has made it among the most expensive getaways on the Mediterranean.
To Salina 15NM.
SALINA
Day 5 – Once upon a time Salina was considered the “lesser” of the Aeolian islands despite being the second biggest after Lipari with three different comuni of Santa Marina, Malfa and Leni and six volcanoes scattered around its 10-square mile surface. However, was a place that silently carved out a very special place in the heart of island lovers. It smartly matched its wild nature and untamed spirit with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere offering a dashing bit of otherworldly hospitality.
Here, Michelin-star restaurants are hidden behind the secluded gates of family inns and the best wines are served by winemakers on a panoramic terrace using a vine leaf as a coaster while crystal clear waters are just a step away from the hydrofoils. To Lipari 16NM.
LIPARI
Day 6 – Everything here is typical and simply beautiful, white houses with flat roofs, the cobbled alleys, Baroque towering churches, the scents of rosemary, capers and gorse being leitmotiv to any stroll, the white and black beaches following one another, a crystal clear sea that reflects and enhances everything.
No coincidence, both Greek and Latin mythology and classical literature have dedicated so many verses and countless pages telling about this tiny place in the world.
To Taormina 70NM.
TAORMINA
Day 7 – However, Taormina’s persistent allure is now likely to be revealed to those able to spend more than a day here or visit out of season.
Aside from the town’s long-held position as one of the most popular places in Sicily for tourists, the area in and around Taormina – easily accessible from Catania Airport – also doubles up as a popular resort and beach destination for Italians and non-Italians, and a convenient base from which to visit Mount Etna and do a few day trips.
